On the topic of MEC, does anyone here have experience using a double sleeping bag? My wife and I have always used separate sleeping bags, but I'm curious if a double would be better (or worse, especially if one of us has to get up in the middle of the night).
It'd be better for warmth, I'm sure, but my current sleeping bag is so warm that I'm usually too hot, rather than too cold.
@mcmoots So it's a single that can be used like a double-sized blanket when paired with a ground sheet? Cool. I assume that means no zippers to deal with when using that way?
@ink_slinger Well, you can zip it to the groundsheet if you need to keep more warmth in, we just usually don't bother.
@ink_slinger we just have two adult sleeping bags that we can zip together (one as top and another as bottom). It is definitely warmer that way.
@Einahpets Technically we could do that with ours, but I think it would be pretty awkward since one is a rectangle bag and one is a mummy bag.
@ink_slinger I used to have a mummy bag too, but we managed to find a rectangular sleeping bag to match my husband's.
@ink_slinger We have one of these w/ a groundsheet & it's great: http://featheredfriends.com/condor-20-yf-sleeping-bag.html
It's definitely too warm for most summer camping (unless at altitude) so usually we don't zip it all the way to the groundsheet & it's more like a blanket, I can stick my feet out as heat fins. Getting up in the middle of the night is fine.
