I still let Google know everywhere I go because every Open Maps navigation app I've tried sucks, so I sacrifice my privacy in order to actually get where I'm trying to go.
Maybe I should revert to actual paper maps.
@ink_slinger Use a sextant.
@RexfordGTugwell Where do I get it?
@ink_slinger If your town doesn't have a sextant shop, try Sextants4Less.com.
@RexfordGTugwell @ink_slinger i'm pretty upset that domain doesn't resolve.
@brennen @ink_slinger GDPR-related shutdown.
@RexfordGTugwell Hahaha. Based on your previous toot I thought it was an app, not an actual sextant. Well played, sir.
@RexfordGTugwell I totally missed the "a" the first time and had just read it as: Use sextant.
@ink_slinger That would be something like Sextnt or 6tant or something.
@ink_slinger i keep thinking about getting some kind of standalone gps, but i'm like 50/50 on whether this would even be socially or cognitively possible now.
@ink_slinger Oy, I hear ya. I use Maps from F-Droid, but more than half the time when I search for some place I've been to a dozen times it gives no results. Actual navigation is decent when it does know where you're going, but voice prompts in Google Maps are a lot better and give more warning.
