If you're not from Edmonton, you probably won't understand how oddly heartwarming it is to know this man's biggest concern when he thought he was going to die was: "What happens if people don’t know how to make green onion cakes?"
@msh Plot twist: that's most of the Chinese restaurants in Edmonton.
@ink_slinger see? That's because it's a sure bet 😄
Also another culinary sure bet: Donair-and-Pizza shops (including Donair Pizza). I wonder if Duke's is still around and the same as it was back when I lived in Edmonton
@msh Donair and burger joints seem to be more common, but donair-and-pizza shops are known to exist. And even Pizza 73 has a donair pizza now! I don't know about Duke's, though; I've never heard of it.
@ink_slinger I haven't been to Dukes for ages since I moved back to Calgary 20 years ago but it appears to still be there. From the website it looks like they've renovated and expanded their menu a bit.
@msh Across from Lister...that explains why I wasn't familiar with it. I never lived in Lister so that was an area of campus I never ventured to.
@ink_slinger you couldn't go wrong by opening a restaurant that served ginger fried beef from Calgary alongside green onion cakes from Edmonton
