it is so annoying how many of my metafilter comments get deleted. I am nice and pretty boring and always read the whole thread and the article before I comment.

Also annoying is how the overwrought and insular and gargantuan US politics threads have so fucked up the site that I can't talk about #canpoli or policy elsewhere if it has to do at all with US effects on us. I can understand why the mods kill those comments - because instead of an actual discussion or a few short responses before the convo moves on, you get 67 screechers about irrelevant US political minutiae that no one else in the world knows or cares about. But 😒

@susannah I feel like this is more of a thing than it used to be, like any thread about politics elsewhere in the world becomes a thread on US politics in a hot minute and like why even bother.

Even more annoying is the way the mods treat the original non-US oriented comment as the derail instead of the folks who immediately jump in hyperventilating about the friend of a cousin of the Trump campaign manager's niece who partied with a Russian oligarch's secretary's godchild at spring break 10 years ago and once Trump's impeached the shitty trade policies or whatever I'm talking about that have been in place for decades will surely evaporate.
