The arrest of #JulianAssange at the request of the US is just another example of the power of their influence over the UK and Ecuador. Critics of Julian will love this and it’s clear government are happy to defend rights only so long as it’s convenient for them. It’s a disgrace the lengths the US and UK have gone to to punish Julian for exposing their wrongdoing. This is about so much more than one man. #wikileaks #freedomofthepress #rights #government

12)
No one shall be subjected to arbitrary interference with his #privacy, family, home or correspondence, nor to attacks upon his honour and reputation. Everyone has the right to the protection of the law against such interference or attacks.

19)
Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right includes #freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive and impart #information and ideas through any media and regardless of frontiers.

This is the most horryfing and gut-wrenching of #news: moonofalabama.org/2019/04/met-.

No idea how it can be averted, short of #Wikileaks publication doing some sort of a cease deal with the US/UK gov to let #Assange go free.

At the same time though, Wikileaks is a historic achievement in #rights as well as #journalism. This is what'll write Julian into history books, his life's work.

Our time shows how unfairly he has been smeared and defamed.

But history, if but in few, must remember him fondly.

One of our fundamental constitutional is that new taxes can only be imposed with the consent of the legislature. There are theoretical reasons for why that is required, but isn't the real reason that King John was incapable of administering a tax system without the co-operation of the nobility and the wealthy yeomen?

Looks like some countries want to exact a heavy price for a trade deal. And the UK will not be in a position of strength to resit much longer.
