@brainblasted I have #nobot in my profile for a reason.
If I wanted bots following me I'd be on birdsite.
writes a bot that follows followbots. Once enough have followed it it just spams 🖕 all day.
welp, the followbots should have had #nobot in their profiles 🤷
PSA: you can stop follow bots by putting #nobot in your profile. Yes it's clumsy but it's just the way things is it seems.
@vantablack I imagine knowledge of the #nobot tag isn't universal
The absence of #nobot does not imply consent
@tomharris I'm just trying to voice my opinion, so that the authors of those bots are a little less likely to be able to claim ignorance.
I'm definitely not the only person opposed to follow-everyone-all-the-time bots, and I really think the #nobot "solution" is a bad one.
Tracking should never be implemented as opt-out, and the devs and deployers of these tracking bots should be aware of that.
Damn, I'm tired of opt-out "federation" bots crawling the fediverse to hoard posts.
I shouldn't need to use special hashtags in my bio to opt out of being tracked by random servers on the internet.
Why can't they send a DM first to ask? And if I reply, then the bot can follow me.
Yeah, I know I can just lock my account, but that's kinda the nuclear option in this context.
@Ocean22 @vga_dreams no it does not feel like a bot feed at all! And there are conversations around your posts which is the super cool! #nobot
Just got followed by a federation bot
What's even the point of having #NoBot in your profile if bots won't even listen to it?
Anyway that bot is blocked now
do bots actually respect #nobot
is it worth wasting bio characters on
man, where would I get the characters for “#nobot” in my bio?
respects #nobot but doesn't respect declined follow requests
Reminder that automatons can follow me despite #nobot, just not the followbots
Would the owner of @Ambassador please teach it about #nobot ?
