@ink_slinger I do not take part in their discussions very much, but I do check their posts via RSS and I enjoy them. My reasons for signing up for a monthly donation are: (1) I owe a lot to #MetaFilter and it’s time for me to pay back, (2) it’s one of the few public examples of how well a moderated community can work, (3) I want other people (and not just me) to enjoy the site, and (4) anything that breaks the monopoly Facebook and Google have on news should be supported
Whoa, #MetaFilter is in pretty deep financial trouble. I am not a very active member of that community anymore, so I'm a little torn. I don't want the site to go away, but I also don't feel like paying a monthly subscription fee for a site I don't visit very often. I'd be willing to give a one time donation, but would that really make a difference in the long term?
