This was intended as a #throwbackthursday post, but has turned in to more of a #fridayfotofail due to forgetting to edit it until 2 minutes to midnight on Thursday night!
Anyhoo - Atlantic Island Airways #Boeing 727-276 TF-AIA taxiing out to Runway 24 at Manchester sometime in 1992, quite possibly 20th June.

I'm an aviation enthusiast from Manchester, England, and spend far too much time (according to my wife) /not enough time (according to me) taking pictures of aeroplanes.

I knew that I would occasionally find an old photo that I could actually put a date to...
While doing a bit of internet sleuthing to find some details on this aircraft, I found a photo taken at an event I swore I was at, so here is a precise date for you...

Some shots from Manchester Airport on a gloriously sunny day, 4th June 2015.
There are only a few shots from this set because I was there with my 3 year old daughter, who was more interested in running around and causing mayhem than in standing still while Daddy took pictures of planes.

TS-IMB A320-211 Tunisair, taken from outside the glasshouse on the viewing deck on T2 at LHR.
Taken on one of my regular trips down to Heathrow during the 90's (it was useful having a sister who lived pretty much around the corner - going to visit her and the kids was a great excuse to spend a long weekend on the Queens Building!).

I'm almost blushing over here - one of the younger members of one of the #avgeek FB groups I'm a member of has started a small virtual magazine featuring movements from our local airport - and the first issue features 2 photos by li'l ole me, alongside a bunch of fantastic photographers.
Maybe I'm not entirely crap after all!

This is so, so close to what I want - and yet I can't figure out how to get that last little bit.
I can't figure out why it seems ever so slightly out of focus either, as the original was fine in digiKam... photog.social/media/G4Rv5niqGq

Last night was a delightfully busy night for my ADS-B receiver. I always love watching the flights passing by, and picking out any unique ones like private jets or military aircraft.
But even the regular commercial flights are very interesting to watch and check out. And sometimes you can even find their pilots on Twitter discussing their routes prior to take off.

There is so much wrong with this photo - over-exposed, not sharp, high ISO, shooting almost in to direct sunlight, fog - and yet I love it.
The rainbow comes from water vapour condensing out of the air in the low pressure area over the wing.

I'm not sure if I'm going to use this, or re-edit it, but here ya go...

One of my favorite pastimes lately has been using an RTL-SDR connected to a raspberry pi as an ADB-S receiver.

I've always been an and being able to see the radio signals from planes passing overhead is constantly fascinating to me. Plus by providing the data to sites like FlightRadar24 and FlightAware I get an Enterprise level account to be able to see more info on fights and tracking features.
