@micahflee It's pretty clear they are not for transparency, but are instead a tool for Russia. What a strange world we now live in.

@thurloat Oh. Totally. I'm still gushing over it. So good! :)

I just finished watching Halt and Catch Fire.

It's truly one of the best shows I've ever seen, and I wish there were more seasons. Brilliantly written and performed. So incredibly moving.

I highly recommend the show to anyone, especially computer people.

The FCC announced that the end to #NetNeutrality protections will happen on June 11. Tell your senators to vote to stop them.

@upshotknothole @craigmaloney ah. I know PHP isn't a great language, but I wouldn't say WordPress is shit. It's actually quite solid, especially for most people's needs. We support quite a number of corporate and government sites that run WordPress at work (I work at a devops firm. We also support many other frameworks and languages) and they've been going really well for years.

The Secure Data Act, which has bipartisan support, gets encryption right. It would protect companies from being forced to build backdoors into their encrypted devices and services. eff.org/deeplinks/2018/05/secu

@craigmaloney It's always seemed crazy to me how many people, even prominent ones, use Medium when they could easily have their own blog.

I know that's not desirable or easy for some, but I've seen a lot of techies using it and that really baffles me.

@jamey @NerdResa I believe that's correct. I suspect that because different browsers do it differently. So they probably aren't all relying on the same libraries or OS internals, etc.

Thank you! Everyone: The petition to force a vote on the Congressional Review Act was delivered today. See where your Senators stand and give them a call! #RedAlert act.eff.org/action/tell-congre twitter.com/cynixy/status/9942

@Laurelai @tbeckett oh, my. Well, it was a pleasure chatting with you.

@Laurelai @tbeckett Eek. No, it is definitely not. :/

That's not what you were talking about anyway. You were complaining about people correcting spelling errors. Please see my previous comments regarding that.

If you are concerned about classism and ablism, I suggest supporting efforts to aid folks affected by those problems -- better education, health care, and legal protections. People correcting spelling errors is not a problem of any sort.

@tbeckett @Laurelai I agree. Pointing out spelling errors is not classism or ablism.

In fact, doing so makes each of us a more credible, more effective communicator -- actually lifting people up, rather than tearing them down. After all, *everyone* makes mistakes!

So next time someone corrects your spelling, thank them -- they're helping your cause! ;)
